Homepage Sol's Last Tape
LITTLE BIG MAN meets GOODFELLAS in this story woven from flashbacks and interviews with 111 year old SOL ROSS, now a resident of the Ease Nursing Home. Journalist MARK REM slowly unravels the atypical life of Sol - that of a decent young man confronting obstacles ultimately leading to imprudent decisions, violence, and deadly actions.  A Jewish youth living in a predominantly Italian neighborhood, Sol early on experiences the clash between Italian-Jewish cultures. He eventually leaves the neighborhood but returns later for personal revenge. Keeping his Jewish ancestry well-hidden, Sol rises to become an Italian syndicate leader. As SAL ROSSI, he retaliates for the physical and psychological abuse endured as a youth. Sol's flashbacks reveal an increasingly subtle but lethal paranoia cultivated during a lifetime. A series of twists leads the story to an exciting climax.

Outrage!
Outrage is a corrosive collage of malevolent, abrasive, and bizarre observations on the events and institutions of our age. Outrage is what Aristophanes and Voltaire would have written, had they experienced O.J. Simpson and the National Rifle Association. Outrage endorses hypocrisy, as a preferred anesthesia, for the pain produced by maintaining contradictory value systems. Outrage concedes that the seminal ingredients of satire are misery, discord, death, and disease. Outrage is nervous laughter, punctuated by painful spasms of self-recognition. Outrage is Tarzan as he crashes to the jungle floor screaming, "Who greased my vine!" Outrage never offers small offenses as it moves relentlessly toward the ultimate insolence. Outrage will provoke equal-time demands from the American Medical Association; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; the State Department; the Vatican; the Girl Scouts; the... Outrage recognizes the unrecognizable: we are all servo-mechanisms of our media. Outrage is a license for cathartic hostility. Outrage is a terminal observation on the human condition: namely, nothing works. Outrage would be outrageous, were it not so true.
